Only few products manage to become the definition for a whole category. PCI Flexmörtel made it. And that alone proves the unique success story of the “yellow bag” as it is lovingly called by experts in the business. An excellent opportunity for PCI Augsburg GmbH to appreciate its career lasting for 30 years now.
For with its 30 years the product does not have more wrinkles than when first being applied in 1980. Sales went up to 60,000 tons per year which corresponds to an area of laid ceramic of over 17 million sqm or 3,400 football fields per year. The reason for the success story of PCI Flexmörtel was based on the innovative formulation. That was the time when ceramic coverings made of fully-vitrified stone were just introduced. The higher demands that this material made on the tile adhesive were met by the highly polymer-modified flexible mortar of PCI just launched at the time. The success story continued with the products PCI Flexfug, PCI Flexfug Extra, PCI Fleximent and PCI Flexmörtel-Schnell.
Nowadays the Guidelines for Flexible Mortar issued by the German Construction Chemical Industry state a general description for all polymer-modified adhesives. PCI Flexmörtel thus became the generic term just like Tempo with paper tissues.
