On the occasion of Deubau 2010 PCI Augsburg GmbH continued to present dust-reduced products which were first introduced about a year ago in Munich. The declared goal of this strategy is to offer complete systems of dust-reduced PCI products to professional workers step by step. The innovations in Essen are a further step towards this goal. Various products with optimized formulations and fields of application were also presented at the exhibition.
The Periplan product family comprises the flowable cementitious floor levelling compound for indoor use under top coverings, characterized by the product name and the grass-green packaging design. The “Allrounder” within the product family is now available at the Deubau 2010 for the first time as dust and emission reduced product according to EC1 standard tested of GEV.
Being a very flowable floor levelling compound with a large range of layer thicknesses from 2 to 30 mm the new PCI Periplan can perfectly cover a large part of fields of application on common substrates. Simple handling, problem-free flow behaviour, high final strength and the brilliant surface finish remain unchanged even in the new “dust reduced” version.
The special wash primer PCI Gisogrund 303 is produced in a new and improved formulation. The most important result of this development is the yield which is about 10 percent higher compared with the previous product. PCI Gisogrund 303 is ready to use and can be applied by roller or brush without mixing it. The wash primer can be fast applied with further layers and is tack-free after 30 to 45 minutes. An outstanding feature of the new formulation is the wet strength of PCI Gisogrund 303: surfaces can thus be directly laid with tiles even in case of moderate moisture conditions – if no waterproofing is required. The light-yellow colour enables good coverage control of the surface.
The polymer-modified dust reduced joint grout PCI Flexfug Extra has been developed especially for renovation works indoors. It is mainly used to grout wall and floor surfaces made of non-vitrified tiles and vitrified tiles, but can also be applied to fully-vitrified tiles. PCI Flexfug Extra is suitable for joint widths from 1 to 10 mm and, being a dust reduced and very emission reduced product, complements the PCI range for the “clean jobsite”. PCI Flexfug Extra comes in 25 kg bags in the colour silvergrey.
It’s only the name that remained unchanged. PCI Kanament, the special repair mortar for wall, floor and overhead use in sewage application, has been completely redeveloped. As repair mortar of class R4 (to EN 1504-3) it is suitable for flat-surface and partial repairs of cement-bound substrates, to repair and reprofile concrete components in sewage construction such as accessible sewers, open channels, sewer receiving tanks etc. PCI Kanament can be applied either manually or by machine to layer thicknesses from 5 to 50 mm. Due to the new formulation the working characteristics of the repair mortar were further improved. PCI Kanament is resistant to sulphate, permanent wetness, frost and remains its high mechanical and chemical resistance to the conditions prevailing in sewage construction. Surfaces that were applied with PCI Kanament are walkable after 24 hours and can be coated with the special waterproofing slurry PCI Kanadicht.
Thanks to the improved product features of PCI Kanament the special bonding agent PCI Kanahaft is not required any longer and therefore taken out of the PCI product range.
With immediate effect the two-part bitumen thick coating PCI Pecimor 2K can be applied in two ways: Besides the manual application it is now also possible to apply the material mechanically by spray gun. Both components are mixed as usual, then one litre of tap water is added – ready. Fields of application and layer thicknesses remain unchanged. The mechanical application leads to an increased output per area, and also the sprayed material must not be smoothed – which means considerable time saving at the jobsite.
The following equipment is suitable for spray-application of PCI Pecimor 2K: InoMAT M8 (Inotec GmbH, Waldshut-Tiengen), HC 940 (Wagner Fördertechnik GmbH, Reutlingen), spiral pump BMP 6 (b&m Vertriebs GmbH, Oberteuringen) and Swing M (Knauf PFT GmbH, Iphofen).
The sprayable consistence was successfully tested by the test institute Bautest Dresden GmbH according to the test principles for polymer-modified bitumen thick coatings and the test principles for joint sealants. PCI Pecimor 2K is labelled with two supervision symbols, one for manual application, the other one for spray application.
The supporting elements made of HR foam, creative boards and angle elements available under the brand name PCI Pecidur were also redeveloped. Obvious sign is the orange-coloured polystyrene foam core (XPS) which is a clear distinction from competitive products. A new special mortar coating of the boards with thickness 4, 6 and 10 mm leads to a considerably noticeable bending tensile rigidity and to unsurpassed adhesive tensile strengths. In practice this means a considerably more secure bond between the ceramic covering and the substrate. In addition the packaging concept of HCFC free boards was optimized by using winding films, pallets made of natural wood flush with the boards and the use of a more sturdy edge protection. The result: a considerable increase in transport safety.
