Campsite Grubhof

Products used

The Grubhof campsite in the middle of St. Martin near Lofer reflects the characteristics of the region: originality, tradition and warm hospitality. Since 2013, the new 5-star sanitary facility 3 has increased the comfort of the approximately twelve hectare campsite by relieving the existing sanitary facilities during the high season and shortening the distances between the pitches and washing facilities all year round. There are seven ten square meter family bathrooms in the new complex. Each is equipped with a toilet, a spacious shower and washbasins with storage space. The high frequency of use of 1,200 camping guests a day places special demands on the design and construction of the wet rooms. Therefore, the finished coverings must look attractive, have adequate slip resistance and be easy to clean on a daily basis. Therefore, large-format fine stoneware tiles were laid on a total of 350 square meters of floor space and 150 square meters of wall space. Under the surface of the beautiful tiles and slabs, high-quality products from PCI Augsburg provide contemporary moisture protection for the building fabric. On the one hand, they effectively stand up to the high moisture stresses and, on the other hand, bring flexibility to the composite through innovative ingredients. According to the Austrian standard B 2207, wall surfaces subject to heavy moisture stress, such as in sanitary areas, are classified in stress class W3, and corresponding floor surfaces in stress class W4. Therefore, the substrate must be particularly protected against moisture penetration. Waterproofing the moisture posed a variety of challenges for the processors: The tile covering had to be applied to a very young screed that was still shrinking. In order to protect the future tile skin from damage, the crack-bridging waterproofing slurry PCI Seccoral 2K Rapid was applied over the primer. Another demanding task was the static separation of the insulation in the sometimes very long corridors with equally long separating joints. The individual inlets and outlets as well as the floor-wall connections were integrated into the waterproofing layer with various waterproofing tapes and collars, the elastic joints formed with silicone sealant. Due to the fine interaction of team and material, the new sanitary facility 3 could be put into operation in time for the new season after a short construction period.
